The island of Lefkada is affected by the Bora winds that blow from the northeast. These winds are relatively strong and can create choppy seas, especially in the northern part of the island. Sailors should be cautious when navigating during Bora winds and check the weather forecast regularly.
The Tramontana winds are not common in Lefkada, but during the winter months, they can blow from the north to northwest. These winds can be strong and unpredictable, but they usually do not last long. The more common winds in Lefkada during the summer season are the Maistro winds from the northwest and the Scirocco winds from the southeast.
Jugo winds, also known as sirocco or gregale, blow from the southeast in the Lefkada region of Greece. They are often associated with storms and rain, and can sometimes be strong and gusty. It is important for sailors to take caution when sailing in these conditions.
The Mistral winds do not affect Lefkada, as it is located on the eastern side of the island and the Mistral blows from the northwest. However, the island can be affected by strong local thermal winds that are caused by the temperature difference between the island and the mainland. These winds can reach speeds of up to 25 knots and are known as the "Lefkada Vardies".
