Searadar lists seven Lagoon catamarans in Santorini on this snapshot: the Lagoon 42, the Lagoon 450 Fly and the Lagoon 46. They charter by the week, Saturday to Saturday, from €6,000 up to €21,700 per week (as of 7 September 2026, refreshed on publish), plus a booking extra of about €500. Every boat is crewed or skippered, and all seven lie at Vlychada Marina on the south coast, because there is no marina under the caldera.

TL;DR: chartering a catamaran from Santorini for a week

Yes, you can charter a catamaran from Santorini for a week. Searadar's Santorini fleet is Lagoon catamarans, taken by the week from €6,000 (as of 7 September 2026), crewed or skippered. Because there is no harbour under the caldera, you embark at Vlychada Marina on the south coast, not below Fira or Oia. A week from Vlychada island-hops the southern Cyclades toward Ios, Folegandros, Sikinos, Anafi and Amorgos. On top of the weekly rate you pay a booking extra of about €500, a refundable deposit, the Greek cruising tax (TEPAI) and Greek charter VAT. You pay Searadar no booking commission. Searadar is rated 4.2 out of 5 from 1,054 reviews on Trustpilot (as of 27 August 2026).

Where you embark: Vlychada, not the caldera

Santorini is the rim of a drowned volcano, so the caldera side is a line of cliffs with Fira and Oia on top and deep water below. There is no marina under those cliffs. A yacht charter in Santorini does not board below Fira or Oia. Searadar's catamarans lie at Vlychada Marina on the south coast, and that is where your week begins, after a road transfer from wherever you are staying. Building that transfer into your first day is the one piece of planning the caldera photos never show.

The catamarans you charter in Santorini

On this snapshot the Santorini fleet is seven boats, and every one is a Lagoon catamaran: the Lagoon 42, the Lagoon 450 Fly and the Lagoon 46. Prices run from €6,000 to €21,700 per week (as of 7 September 2026, refreshed on publish). Each listing shows the exact boat, its cabins and its price, not a stock photo of the class. Cabin and berth counts differ by boat and are on each listing, so match the boat to the size of your group before you book.

All prices as of 7 September 2026 and refreshed on publish. Santorini is a small catamaran base, not a big operator, so the choice is real but limited. If you want the reasons to take a catamaran over a monohull, and where else in Greece they are based, see catamaran charter in Greece.

Where a week sails: island-hopping the southern Cyclades

Santorini sits at the south end of the Cyclades, so a week from Vlychada works the southern islands rather than the northern route out of Mykonos. Common legs run to Ios for its beaches and anchorages, Folegandros and Sikinos for quieter cliffs and small harbours, Anafi to the east, and Amorgos further out. The caldera is your start and finish, not the whole trip: most of the sailing is open Cyclades water between islands. Each leg is a day's sail or less, and the crew or skipper sets the order around the wind.

For the northern Cyclades from a different base and route, see yacht charter in Mykonos.

Crewed or skippered, and what the week costs: extras, TEPAI and VAT

Santorini catamarans are chartered crewed or skippered. On a skippered or crewed boat the licence question does not arise, because the skipper's qualification covers the boat. If you hold a skipper certificate and want to take a boat bareboat, the base checks your papers first and confirms which certificates it accepts for a bareboat catamaran when you book.

The weekly rate is not the whole price. On top of the from-price sit a booking extra of about €500, a 20% booking deposit and a separate refundable damage deposit, fuel, and two Greek taxes. We list what applies before you pay, not at the dock.

TEPAI is the electronic per-metre monthly fee every pleasure craft in Greek waters pays before it sails, charged on boats over 7 m and paid in advance through the eTEPAI portal. Greek charter VAT is not one flat number: it is 24% as standard and drops to 13% on a crewed charter longer than 48 hours that starts and runs in Greece (Law 5073/2023). Do not read either as Spain's rate; they are Greek rules and they are different. On a crewed or skippered charter the company normally handles both, and the rate that applies is shown on your quote.

Searadar's standard booking takes a 20% deposit, and you can add the Free Deposit Pack, a paid Searadar option priced at 20% of the standard deposit, so you do not lock the full refundable damage deposit on your card.

Before you book: embarkation, the meltemi and the small base

These are the points where a Santorini catamaran week goes wrong. They are honest limits, not disclaimers.

There is no harbour under the caldera. You embark at Vlychada Marina on the south coast, not below Fira or Oia, and your week starts with a road transfer to the marina. Plan the transfer into your first day so you are not late for the handover.

It is a small base, so book ahead. On this snapshot the fleet is seven catamarans. In July and August a base this size sells out months in advance, so an early booking is the difference between the boat you want and no boat at all.

The open Cyclades legs meet the meltemi. A southern-Cyclades week is real open-water sailing. In July and August the meltemi, the strong northerly summer wind, blows hardest, and it can push the route toward sheltered anchorages and change the order of the islands. The caldera itself is deep and exposed, not a calm overnight berth. This is a sailing reality your crew or skipper plans around, not a cancellation.

The "from €6,000" figure leaves things out. The headline is the boat only. On top sit the booking extra of about €500, the deposit, fuel, TEPAI and VAT. Read the total on the quote, not the from-price.

FAQ

Can I sail one-way from Vlychada and leave the catamaran at another island?
The standard booking is a Saturday-to-Saturday week that starts and ends at Vlychada, so you bring the catamaran back to the base you embarked from. A one-way charter that drops the boat at a different island is not the standard product and would need the base to agree it.

Do I need a skipper's licence to take a bareboat catamaran in Greece?
For a bareboat catamaran, yes. Greece only lets you drive without a licence on a small engine up to 30 HP, and a charter catamaran is well beyond that, so the base needs a recognised skipper certificate such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper, and Greek practice usually also wants a second competent crew member on board. Take the boat crewed or skippered and none of that applies, because the skipper's qualification covers the boat.

Is the refundable deposit the same as the 20% booking deposit?
No, they are two different things. The 20% is Searadar's booking deposit, paid online to confirm the charter. The refundable damage deposit is a separate, larger sum the charter company holds on your card and returns if the boat comes back undamaged; its size is set per boat and shown on your quote. If you would rather not lock that full sum on your card, you can add the Free Deposit Pack, a paid option that costs 20% of the deposit and is not refunded.

When do I pay, and can I cancel?
Searadar's standard schedule is 50% on booking confirmation and the remaining 50% due 30 days before the charter, or 100% up front if you book within 30 days of the start. If you pay 100% up front, Searadar offers free cancellation; the Free Deposit Pack and the standard 20% deposit are non-refundable, and the charter company may keep part of the fee on later cancellations.

Can I book a single cabin on the catamaran, or only the whole boat?
These are whole-boat charters: you take the entire catamaran by the week, not a cabin at a time. Match the boat and its cabin count to your group before you book, because you are paying for and sailing the whole boat, not sharing it with strangers.
